Textures: Dualism

Not too long ago, I was trawling the cyberspace in search of Dream Theater-like bands but with more metal injection in the music. I was at Mayones Guitars homepage when I stumble upon the Dutch band, Textures. This bands has plenty of metal & more importantly, they don't succumb to conventions. People tend to find prog elements in metal a little repulsive because it would mean bending the music into specific technicalities which often require some thinking. The average metal fan won't like this, it's too much effort even for mere appreciation. But if you are a music fan in general, you'd hold that extra thinking in the music in high regard. Do take time to listen to this track from Texture's latest release, Dualism (great music in here, have been listening to it for days):

DT has a guitar focus, other prog metal bands have no such obligations, they are very much intensity-inclined. i'm not too drawn into DT these days, especially after Scenes from a Memory. if there's an urge to listen to them, i'll pick Images & Words.
