Fender: Aerodyne J-bass

How many times have I tried the Fender Aerodyne AJB? Many times. I tried it again yesterday & it was still as irresistable.
You might be too critical with the basswood body but this bass has the top-notch feel & tone which would make the American models too excessive in terms of the list price. Please do not expect the vintage nuances coming from the AJB because the curved body top screams contemporary, so do the pickups. For those of us who are staunch Fender fans but would want something more up to date in terms of feel & tone- highly recommended.

these basses are spectacular...

if the basswood body is your gripe then the Aerodyne Classic Precision Special (US market in production, formerly known in JP market as APB-105DMC, discontinued) or the AJB-110DMC (JP market only, discontinued) which are made of alder with a flame maple top could be the answer.

both have a C-shaped neck and radiused top; the precision has P/J pups, while the jazz is J/J with an offset waist. i own the latter. cheers!

i just did a check, the old JP-market APB-105DMC was P-only, while the current US-market precision special is P/J. just to clarify

i have no gripes with basswood, it's fair warning to would-be buyers out there.
