Ibanez: RGA32 (Part2)

The RGA32 joins its ART sibling in offering an affordable active output. Unlike other brand names, Ibanez assigned an AA battery pair in powering up the humbuckers. Besides being different, the AA battery type is more readily available than a block 9V unit.

This is rather mysterious to me- the RGA's serial number indicated its 2009 inception but this is only the third week of January. I am wondering if the guitar was manufactured late 2008 & finished in the budding days of this year hence its chronological indication. If production was strictly initiated this year, it was a rushed job.

One thing I can't figure out about this guitar is whether the front of the guitar is flat or slightly curved?

RGA- the 'A' in there refers to 'arched' top.

Hi there! I'm looking foward on buying this guitar. Looks very nice!

I was just wondering if hardware was reliable (resistent to corrosion, stays in tune) and if sound was good.

cheers!

Gabe

hi there my friend, please DO NOT buy this guitar just because it looks nice, the objective of acquiring any instrument is that it serves your needs & has lots in store for you in terms of tone & playability.

the default hardware is a durable set, no doubt. however, any hardware's durability very much hinges upon the owner's maintenance & care for his/ her property, guitar included.

to date, i have no issues with the tuners' in-tune factor :-)

thanks for answering!

I was asking because I am looking for a cheaper alternative for a fixed bridge guitar to play (relatively) heavy stuff or alternative rock in alternate tunning (I also want to add a d tuner so I can drop D more easily).

My current axes are two Ibanez, the RG1570 and a RG1527

the RGA32 would prove to be a good alternative but it's a great guitar in its own turf. keep in mind the pickups are active :-)

thanks for replying again!

just another quick question. How can you compare this with the RGA121? I've palyed it onces and loved it. Does it feel/sound too different?

Just ordered myself one online. Can't get it anywhere else at the moment. I tryed out an ibanez rg321tho in black before i commited which also came in the mol finish. It's kind of the same guitar just minus the arched top & the actives.

Really love the mol finish on the rga32 & the arched top just sold me.

betw the RG321/ RGA32, the bridge & pickups are gonna affect playing in terms of feel/ tone. i'm not too keen on the default actives in the RGA32...

Stock pickups will never blow anyone away on a guitar of this price range. The feel of the RGA32 will be almost the same as the RG321 with the wizzard 2 neck & mahogany body.

it's really what the manufacturer wants us to own; the default V/QM series pickups in the ibanez of yesterday were much desireable. of late, i'm beginning to like the default INF pickups in the less extravagant Ibanez range.

I like the nu bridge on the RGA32, looks more robust than a standard/average hardtail you see everywhere else. Liked the Gibraltar 3 bridge & quick change tail piece on the ART models alot to. Not everyone likes actives so they could have put passives in the RG32 as standard. Most people that like actives will most likely swap out to EMG's or maybe Blackouts anyway.
The INF pickups where ok for the price of the RG321 I thought, some people can be to anti-stock about things at times.

Hi just got mine in the post today. Very nice guitar over all. I can see some kind of what looks like a yellow tape around the sides of the neck to body joint tho? did you notice this on yours by any chance?
The only other thing I can notice on mine is they must have stanied some of the white binding abit around the neck and then put satin clear coat over it. Ohh & they missed some stain around one of neck bolts like they did with yours lol.

OK, so, after some time has passed, are you happy with this guitar? Any issues?
BTW, I'm considering to buy one from a guy in my country, who has (allegedly) come into some producer-price channels and offers them at quite a nice tag of less than GBP 250. How does this bargain sound to you?

i got the guitar with no cover for the batteries, can i buy any off somebody. I dont want the whole guitar just maybe like a 3d printed cover to hold in the batteries.

if somebody can do that for me that would be great, contact me dumoh3893@gmail.com

it would probably be very easy to 3d copy it ,so im thinking $5 would be a fair price
