LTD: ST-203

All I did was to initiate a simple query when I was at Davis GMC a few days ago & Janet picked this LTD up, asked me to give it a go. At the back of my mind, I told myself, what's the point? I would never like a guitar of this nature but if that happens then I'd be hypocritical to what I've been standing by all this while- never to judge an instrument by virtue of its externalities. So as I hear it in action, it presented itself to be a good player despite all the attention seeking distress marks. Today I made it a point to give it another test run since I was in town. If there's any magic that would take place then it would happen today. As you can see, the guitar is now in my residence. I'm waiting for the inevitable to happen- people asking if it's any better than a Strat. You need to know that the ST-203 is a good guitar per se.

hey Sub,

would playing through a short cable sound different from a very long cable , if both were of the same make?

would you believe that having a thinner finish result in better tone?

i think its tacky , that there is always "better" tone and not "different" tone.

hey bro :-) under fine monitoring, tonal differences would be evident for short & long cables. it is believed that certain frequencies are affected by cable length. however, a good/ quality cable would maintain uniformity regardless of the length.

thinner finish won't guarantee a good tone but seasoned players notice that guitars with thinner final coating gives a more desirable resonance hence they fancy relic models- that's the rage right now isn't it?

people think their 'different' tone is 'better' so the dichotomy would perpetuate. sometimes they tend to get hostile if their different tone are deemed undesirable that's why people argue. it's quite pointless really as there's no 'right' tone to begin with :-)

brother ijau: that's what happened- this one's not supposed to come now but in life, we have to be ready for the unexpected- it's how we react that matters :-0

Ahhh...and i thought you gonna grab the LTD 27-fretter :)

It'll be nice if it comes with a matching distressed maple fretboard.

hey,

how's the feel of the neck? as compared to a fender standard strat, medium-sized jumbo frets and the fender am special, jumbo-sized fret.

subversion.sg said...

it's not a Fender affair, it's LTD's slim U-profile with 22 XJ frets. still very playable but not a rounded Fender experience.

Yeah...only if its not the RF version :)

i was hoping there was that option too bro, but come to think of it, i don't own any SSS guitar with rosewood fretboard- the reason i got this one.
