Looks like

Many of us adore the simplicity of Fender's Blacktop Jaguar model.

The idea of a dual humbucking Fender sporting a Jaguar-esque body isn't new; the Toronado was there for the taking but not many of us were interested...

Toronado isn't very appealing in terms of looks i guess? Plus, i think blacktop series are made rather affordable too.. $850. So more demand for blacktop compared to toronado.

looks- definitely subjective. in terms of ergonomics, the Toronado is a winner- better balance, more comfy when played strapped on or lapped.

also, the Toronado is as mexican as the blacktop, it's in the same price bracket as well. it's the psychology of design he he... make something in the likeness of a popular/ recognized model & it's more appealing... :-)
