James' EMG

James Hetfield gets his signature EMG set. The difference here is that his humbuckers feature a set of pole-pieces unlike the traditional EMG rail type- it you ever removed the cover to look what's underneath, that is...

i'll still stick to the traditional EMG 81, 60 and 85. assured to give me the sound i want. James' EMG probably sound very different from the traditional ones.

we are not obliged to follow suit, yes? :-) but if they sound appealing, regardless of whichever endorser they are associated with- why not?

metallica's classic albums were recorded with the traditional EMGs, mostly. the new ones, after james' tinkering, will most likely sound like their current unappealing albums.

pickups are only but a small part of their tone. their rigs have changed in 2 decades, and so has production.

don't be too quick to judge about the tone. listen to the man himself.

its not about the branding whatsoever, its what we're looking for. since they're passives i don't mind giving it a shot. if it has clarity of a passive and the intensity of an active, it'd be a really cool pickup.

i'm definitely not for a particular product just because it has some superstar background to it.
