ESP: Phoenix II

The item inside that case, darling, is daddy's new ESP guitar, the Phoenix II.

The Phoenix II is ESP's mockery of Gibson's Firebird model. It's still a through-body make but the rear has a rib-cage bevel to promote playing comfort. The neck is slim & U-shaped. Every now & then, ESP finishes a selected few of their regular production units in a misfit colour. The Phoenix II does not come in a sunburst finish for regular production units; they are strictly black or white. The models sporting odd finishes are only made known to dealers & not lay-people like us.

will the finish make the guitar a collector item?

a guitar being a collector's treasure, regardless of the finish, is all about demand & supply :-)

Hey man, I'm saving up to buy a Phoenix-II as well so I was wondering, did you order it from Davis or wait for it to be in shop?

was about to order when it appeared in store, he he... do note, mine's the Jap domestic version :-)

Ooo, is there a difference between the american ESP and Japanese ESP version?

subversion.sg said...

yes, bro- neck finish; the Jap market offers one with a finished neck, while the one for the US market has a satin finished rear :-)

Thanks bro, I guess I'll just camp for it then :)

Sorry for commenting on an old post of yours, but do you know if the ESP Phoenix body is smaller than the Gibson Firebird body?

Overall- not much diff but lower body bout is slightly wider, sides are thicker as well.
