Club reverso

Here are all the Ibanez guitars I own with reverse headstocks (top-bottom):
  • GRGR010LTD
  • RGR321EX
  • RGR08LTD
What's the hype with reverse headstocks? There is this belief the longer string length of the bass strings after the nut, give the instrument a looser low-end respond. Also, it's a relationship with the tension there due to it's less acute dip to the machine head opening.

Hey, i cant seem too find the model GRGR010LTD in Google. Is it discontinued?

the GRG010LTD is absolutely new for 2010- hence no register in any searches. it's a regional exclusive, nothing too fantastic really, it's a GIO anyway... i'm already considering a pickup swap...

I see, i wish Ibby would release more guitars with reversed headstocks...So what pickups are you intending to replace the default one with?

a Seymour Duncan, can't decide in the mean time but it's not a pressing move :-)

Hi sub, i'm new to this awesome blog of yours.

I'm considering of buying a single pick up guitar. So, in your opinion, which is the better one?
GRGR010LTD or RGR08LTD.

hi bro :-) welcome... before i comment further, do you have any experience with active pickups?

thanks for dropping by- appreciate it!

Tried it once on a friend's bass. Apart from that no experience on an active pickup. Is it something i should consider or check out on 1st?

definitely, because the active unit does not appeal when it comes to clean tones- not as immaculate as passive units. just hear it in action in both clean & distorted modes, make sure you are agreeable with what you are gonna pay for :-)
