Non-conventional

Established players like Alex Lifeson (Rush)...

...and Neal Schon (Journey) are not afraid of equipping their personal guitars with preferred implements/ hardware. These are the individuals who dare to be personal. Some of us don't even dare to replace muddy Les Paul pickups...

some of us(including me) don't have the knowledge in selecting the right pickups...

there's no 'right' pickups, it's what you want to hear :-)

[bil] - I think one of the problem for myself and most of my friends is that we're afraid to get pickups or equipment that produce a sound which others(band mates and other friends who're musicians) don't quite agree with. Although it might be smth that we would really like, but I think we tend to get equipment that'll please others instead of ourselves sometimes. I gotta change that. And this post is actually inspiring! Just like the Joe Bonamassa Post! Thanks GuitarAddict!

we should please ourselves first & foremost- the instrument belong to us, it SHOULD serve us, not others.

then we consider the situation we are in, if we are in a band setting, get what works in context, regardless of what people would say.

i swapped my LP Std's tuners to Gotoh's Magnum Locks & i get snide remarks from old timers who are allegedly defenders of authenticity but heck- it's MY guitar to begin with...

also when it comes to 'valuable' guitars, we'd think twice before implementing changes which would devalue the instrument...

Sub, I am looking to purchase some TrimLok tuners for my axe. Any recommendations and where to buy?

Thanks!
