the quality of indonesia made guitars has increased, as evident by the premium series, therefore price of gio series, also made in indonesia, has increased to reflect the increase in quality of indonesia made guitars.

but still, it's a GIO...

whatevert it says there on the headstock, i still find this guitar impressive in terms of playability & tone. the price is list figure but after disct, it remains to be on the unattractive side for a GIO model. no love lost here for me...

GIO listing for $963?? Wow. Wouldn't be me. No cache at all. Like playing an Epiphone, lame headstock. Name Brands are valuable, that's why lawyers do great business. Not bashing INDO guitars at all,I like em.

for that amount the flame maple top had better be a proper maple top and not a laminate of some sort...

he he, we can't hold the manufacturer ransom for such returns; maybe the rising cost of other parts could account for the list price. we won't know this for sure unless the manufacturer discloses details but we know this won't happen any time soon... :-)

oh the inflation... :(

Well, they do have branded pickups installed in this guitar, as compared to the in-housed units in the other ART models.

Maybe one should just put black tape over the headstock and just play, insteading pondering over the GIO branding.

Or get an Epiphone Les Paul and put a pair of EMG HZ passive pickups in there.

Or you can do the same with a Rally LP copy if the budget is tight.

indonesian made guitars have already reached premium quality standards, so the premium price tag is justified. decades ago, japanese made guitars were dismissed as cheap guitars but look at their quality standards and prices now. indonesian made guitars are simply following in the footsteps of japanese made guitars.

i have no probs accepting the country of make but some people find 'made in indonesia' unacceptable in a certain price bracket.
