Office assistant

This is the resident amp at the office (mine, of course); a Beta Aivin BM6. It's a (very) small practice unit with enough appeal to keep us playing, nothing spectacular but it gets the job done. It also accepts an MP3 player link-up, as well as microphone access; that's how much this little thing has to offer.

The BM6 has a 3+1 band EQ section, a chorus & delay control so that we don't get bored too quickly. I employ a straight through plug in but occasionally will give it a drive kick using my (Ibanez) TS7.

Sure or not, Beta Aivin was a total rip-off, everything also copy others.

if we note the rest of the competition- they are also copies but they make it a point to differentiate & re-package the offering. it's when you don't, excessive scrutiny will set in.

"differentiate" and "re-package" are what the industry called "design". This Beta Aivin company don't even bother to design the exterior, don't know what to say about its interior. Most likely they just open up a Roland/Boss and just copy away. Seriously, their products all CMI... (Cannot Make It)

if it's really an epic failuere (really cannot make it) then the company would've closed shop by now which isn't happening (no idea if it WILL happen). i'm OK with Beta Aivin's Noise Gate- not saying it's the most wonderful & original product to decorate the shelves everywhere but it's something that works.

copying, blatant orotherwise, is happening to technology inclined wares, not just musical instruments & its related products. those on their toes would pull through. the rest just keeps on copying.

i'm not here to give excessive praise to copycats either, just higlighting what works & what's rotten.

bro ijau: IMO, many manufacturers are trying to pull their way through by offering 'cool features' in their smaller packages but ultimately, the tone on offer remains lacklustre, regardless of the brand name. but the objective of these small wonders was never pristine tone, more of convenience :-)

yeah, i thought micro-cube was cool with those built-in effects (modelling)

but this beta-aivin looks cooler, bcoz it DOESN'T have modelling, just 2 simple effects, EQ knobs & overdrive channel

well, if it's half of micro-cube pricetag... damn~ it's even cooler (to play with our beloved pedals)

oh, Beta can't copy technology, e.g. the Roland COSM, i don't think they have such talents to replicate that... haha

that's not always true. beta aivin may be an oem manufacturer for roland for all we know.

it's not about talent. it's about removing the covers & looking in.

Hmm... i notice 4 tone controls instead of the usual 3. =P

that's nothing new bro, BOSS's Metal Zone has 4 options in its EQ section as well.

the difference is that this is an amp. =)
