Imminent guitar future

What's this? This is the guitar of the future, where wood & strings are distant memories. It's called the iTar; an iPad inserted into a guitar-shaped dock. Hands up if you embrace technology & wish to scrap all your guitars. Come on. Let me see your hands.

you guys do realised that those are not much different to midi controllers right, totally different thing to a real guitar? Guitar wont replace those and those wont replace guitar due to the fact, using midi technology for guitar has long existed before there was ipad. Only thing different is the change in implementation of the technology.
With those itar, as long as the developers wanna, the itar can probably be used to control stage lighting, video/live visual jamming on stage, via wifi/osc etc.
The shape can be like a guitar, but what it can do via the software side, will definitely be more than just triggering guitar sounds.

some of us can see beyond the hype...

but it's disturbing to see how the the manufacturer is pushing this like it's a DIRECT replacement for a real guitar. the current tech generation might fall for it.

Manufacturers pushing those as direct guitar replacement are probably just having the easier way out trying to market the product. If current tech generation able to use that to just replace guitar, its rather sad as the idea behind, can do so much more than just replacing guitar.

Itar looks hideous btw, kitara (http://www.misadigital.com/index.php?target=kitara&lang=en) is more pleasing to the eyes and no, its probably not going to replace guitar as well, it predate itar
