Power presence

The BOSS ST-2 is currently in my possession as a borrow-swap deal; a friend was at the Swee Lee warehouse sale yesterday, he bought this pedal but couldn't quite come to terms with what's on offer (he thought it'd be a Metal Zone type...) so we swapped pedals- my (EHX) NANO Metal Muff for his Power Stack- for a week. I just received this from him just minutes ago, he dropped by on his way to a wedding reception.

I know what to expect from the Power Stack, I need to hear it with different guitars & maybe have an appraisal put up here.

Was wondering if this is similar to that discontinued "Swedish Death Metal" pedal, Boss HM-2?

'metal' isn't a sure association with this pedal. it's not an extreme distortion type, we need to understand that it emulates amp-like responses instead. this is what's putting off those in search of intensity. but then again, the Power Stack is capable of being aggressive, just not in a traditional way.

if power stack combined with real stack(s) how "bad" would it sound?
